Samuel Burgos

Samuel Burgos was born in 1996 in Santiago de Cuba, one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the Caribbean and a historic cradle of Cuban musical traditions. He later moved to Havana to complete his formal musical education at the Superior Institute of Arts (ISA), where he graduated with a specialization in Classical Double Bass, developing a strong technical foundation that continues to shape his artistic voice today.

During his years in Havana, Burgos quickly became active in the city’s jazz scene and was awarded two prestigious JoJazz Awards — recognitions granted to the most promising young jazz talents of the island — earning Second Prize in Composition (2016) and First Prize as Jazz Soloist (2015).

Following these early recognitions, Burgos quickly established himself as one of the emerging voices of his generation, collaborating with some of the most respected artists in the Cuban, Latin Jazz, and international jazz scenes, including Ernan Lopez Nussa, Roberto Fonseca, Yasek Manzano, Joe Lovano, Arturo O’Farrill.

His versatility as both a performer and recording artist has led him to participate in numerous international tours, studio productions, and cross-genre musical projects, contributing to several internationally recognized productions, including Latin Grammy-nominated albums such as Tres by Renesito Avich and Alma Cubana by Leoni Torres.

Now based in Miami, Burgos continues developing his artistic vision performing at recognized platforms such as NPR’s Tiny Desk and the NYC Winter Jazz Festival, while expanding his work as a performer, composer, and recording artist.
